Manchester United chiefs are in Italy today to hold talks with three midfield players over a possible deadline day move, according to CaughtOffside.
The Red Devils have been chasing a number of big-name signings in midfield for much of the summer, but have had little luck in their efforts to bring someone in so far.
Still, there may be light at the end of the tunnel for United manager Louis van Gaal, who remains keen on adding at least one more player to his already impressive collection of signings, which looks set to include Radamel Falcao by the end of today, as the Colombian international joins on a season-long loan deal.
The three players United are chasing are all based in Serie A, and depending on how talks today progress, at least one of them should be on their way to Old Trafford before the transfer deadline.
3) Arturo Vidal (Juventus)
One of United’s main priority targets all summer, the club look set to launch at least one more bid to bring Juventus star Arturo Vidal to Old Trafford, in a deal worth potentially £40m. The Chilean international has been one of the best midfielders in Europe in recent years and looks exactly the player van Gaal needs to complete his summer business.
