David Moyes has told press that his star Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie could be out for another six weeks, the Daily Mail reports.
The 30-year-old Dutchman has not played since early December, and he’s had to watch his team fall to a series of embarrassing defeats in his absence.
Moyes has said though that the injury Van Persie has now is a recurrence of the thigh strain he once suffered at Arsenal, so the club is being ultra cautious.
“We are trying to get him back but it’s a thigh strain similar to the one he had at Arsenal so we are having to manage it correctly,” Moyes said.
“He has been to Holland to work with the guy he knows over there and we are doing everything we can. There are some injuries you can play with but not the thigh.”
In his absence, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck have filled the striking void, but are nowhere near as prolific as Van Persie.
Before his injury, RVP had scored seven Premier League goals in 10 starts, and fans will hope the striker can return to action and start finding the back of the net before the end of the season.
