Both United and Man City are interested in Mangala and Otamendi.
FC Porto defenders Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi are set to be the subject of an extraordinary £65m double bid from Manchester United and Manchester City, according to the Daily Star.
The duo have both been linked with a move to Chelsea in the past, but it is the Manchester rivals that now seem to be the most interested.
Otamendi is an Argentina international and is valued by Porto at around £25m, having impressed in the Primeira Liga since arriving in Portugal a little over three years ago.
The 25-year-old is a central defender but can also operate at right-back and has 15 caps for the Argentine national team and one goal.
Mangala meanwhile is considered to be one of the most promising defensive talents in European football and Porto won’t except anything less than £40m for the Frenchman.
The 22-year-old signed for the Portuguese champions in the summer of 2011 from Standard Liege and has since gone onto impress greatly.
Mangala’s ability to also play at left-back makes the France international a particularly attractive prospect for the three English clubs – who all need to strengthen in the area.
The Red Devils are likely to lose Patrice Evra at the end of this current season when the 32-year-old’s contract expires.
The Premier League champions are interested in Everton’s Leighton Baines, but Mangala does have age on the defender’s side in comparison to the Toffees star.
City meanwhile have question marks over Gael Clicky and Aleksandr Kolarov and even Ashley Cole has struggled at Stamford Bridge of late.
