Robson doesn’t understand why the forward would want to leave.
Former Manchester United and England legend Bryan Robson has given his opinion on the ongoing transfer saga of Wayne Rooney to Chelsea.
Robson spent 13 years at Old Trafford and won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups and the 56-year-old is confused by Rooney’s want-away attitude.
“I don’t know what’s in the head of Wayne and his agent – why he wants to leave,” the former United ace was quoted on ITV.
“I know he had loggerheads with Sir Alex but David Moyes is the manager now.
“To me it is so important for him to concentrate on his football this season.
“I don’t know what he sees – the grass is greener on the other side – the fans love him, the players love him so I don’t see what the unsettlement is.”
The England international has been with the Red Devils since a transfer from Everton in 2004 and has since gone onto become the top-scorer at the club under Sir Alex Ferguson, with 197 goals and also establish himself as a fans favourite.
Yet the unsettling nature of Rooney’s apparent engineering of a move away from the Premier league champions, will not please the faithful at the Theatre of Dreams.
The Blues meanwhile have made no secret of their desire to sign the 27-year-old and have already had two official bids for the striker turned down.
Returning manager at Stamford Bridge, Jose Mourinho, is prepared to take this transfer right to the wire and the longer it goes on, the more strained the relationship between Rooney and United becomes.
