Most people would say Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo are currently the world’s best players, but not Eric Cantona. In a report from the Daily Express, the former Manchester United legend has hailed Paris Saint Germain midfielder Javier Pastore as the planet’s best player.

Cantona even name checked the terrific twosome when giving his response, and the news will surely come as a huge boost to the player as they head into their Champions League quarter-final with Barcelona this week.
“For me, today, the best player in the world, the most exciting player in the world, is Pastore from Paris St Germain,” Cantona said.
“Why? Because I watched two games just to see Pastore playing, giving passes.
“He has got something special. Because football is interactive. It’s why footballer is so popular, I think. And Pastore can do things that the other ones don’t know.
“It’s interactive but he does things that surprise you every time. Not only in scoring goals, spectacular goals – everything. Just passing. Passing. He’s a very creative player. He’s the most creative player, I think, in the world today.
“It’s why I think he’s the best player in the world, because I love this kind of player.”
Pastore has previously been linked with a move to Premier League giants Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United, as a new deal to keep him in the French capital is still yet to be signed.
The Argentine recently told reporters that he is in no rush to leave the club, despite a tempestuous time of it lately.
“I have always said that I am in France, in the house where my daughter was born and I feel happy here.
“I am not willing to lose focus over the contract issue.
“My dream is to win everything with PSG and I am only thinking about that.”
Having signed for the club in 2011, he has gone on to make 159 appearances across all competitions, scoring 31 goals and chalking up 29 assists in the process.
