35-year old English veteran defender Rio Ferdinand, who has recently decided to part ways with Manchester United after 12 illustrious years at the club, may not mind taking a step down at this late stage in his career by moving to recently promoted side QPR in the summer, reports the Guardian.
The prospect of reuniting with his former boss and mentor Harry Redknapp is said to be an attractive option for the central defender, who also has managerial ambitions for the future. Redknapp too would not mind a seasoned Premier League veteran like Ferdinand to lead his defence in their first season back in the Premier League, and one will have to wait and see if and when the deal goes through.
Despite being 35, Ferdinand reckons that he is fit enough to play for a few more years, and prefers to stay within England in what could be the last adventure in his career.
QPR are also reportedly interested in snapping up Frank Lampard after learning that he too could draw the curtains on his career with his beloved club Chelsea.
