Red Devils hopeful of tying up £80m deal for the Portuguese this summer.
Manchester United are planning a shock move to bring ex-player Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club from Spanish giants Real Madrid at the end of the season, says the Daily Mail.
The Portugal international first made his name as a player while in the north west, before moving to the Santiago Bernabeu four years ago in a world-record deal worth £80 million.
However, with the 28-year-old still to have put pen to paper on a new contract with the Liga champions to extend his stay in the Spanish capital beyond 2015, United are hoping to exploit the uncertainty surrounding Ronaldo’s Madrid future by making an £80 million bid to bring the player back to the Premier League this summer.
Ronaldo took his tally of Liga goals for Madrid this season to 34 in just 33 matches on Wednesday night, while overall the playmaker has netted a quite incredible 200 goals in only 197 games in all competitions for Los Blancos since 2009.
