Udinese forward Muriel is a primary target for the Red Devils.
With Wayne Rooney looking increasingly more likely to depart Manchester United for Chelsea, the Premier League champions have targeted Udinese’s Luis Muriel as a replacement, reports the Metro.
Despite new manager David Moyes being determined to hold onto Rooney, the forward seems determined to leave Old Trafford this summer and the Scot will have a tough task to change the 27-year-old’s mind.
Therefore out of caution, the Red Devils are targeting new faces and Muriel’s growing reputation makes the Colombian an ideal candidate.
The 22-year-old scored 11 Serie A goals in 22 matches for Udinese in 2012/13 and is being highly rated by several big names, most notably former AS Monaco sporting director Tor Kristian Karlsen.
Another forward with enormous potential is Luis Muriel (COL, 1991, Udinese) – still a bit raw but possesses great pace, strength, balance

Muriel: unpredictable, instinctive – potential to become a real star. Could prove a smart buy even at €30M (the reported asking price)

Muriel would be a significant coup for Moyes and although the striker is fairly unknown in England, the excitement the Colombia international would bring to United is sure to please United fans.
The faithful at the Theatre of Dreams have started to become slightly agitated at the lack of movement in the transfer market since the 50-year-old took charge.
So far United’s only purchase is Uruguayan youngster Guillermo Varela, but the acquisition of Muriel is sure to turn more heads.
