United hot on the tail of Strootman and Vidal.
Manchester United are edging closer to securing a preposterous £125m double transfer for Serie A midfield duo Kevin Strootman and Arturo Vidal, report the Daily Star, with manager Louis van Gaal still extremely keen to see his central options beefed up when the transfer window reopens in January.

Both players have been reported as two of the most valued targets for van Gaal since he took the hotseat at Old Trafford in the summer, but both proved to be out of reach, for differing reasons.
Strootman missed the summer World Cup with a serious injury and is still yet to return to first team action, making January the first available date for United to push ahead with a potential £75m deal for the top class Dutch schemer, whilst they were never able to agree a deal for Vidal despite persistent rumours linking him with the club.
This report suggests that could be set to change, however, with the Serie A champions now willing to listen to offers in the region of £40m for their goalscoring Chilean powerhouse.
