Van Ginkel thought to be worth €15m as interest hots up from Premier League duo.
Manchester United boss David Moyes wants to beat Chelsea to the signing of Dutch wonderkid Marco Van Ginkel.
According to the Sunday Express, United sent chief scout Jim Lawlor to watch the 20-year-old in action at the under-21s European Championships, and have seen enough to warrant increased interest.
It is believed that Jose Mourinho has pinpointed the Vitesse midfielder as one of his targets this summer as he looks to inject some youth into the squad at Stamford Bridge, but they also face competition from Dutch giants Ajax.
However, Mourinho holds the advantage in the race for his signature as the Blues have a partnership with the Dutch club which allows them to have first option on their players, while Ajax are unlikely to be able to compete with the fees touted.
That may lead Moyes to look elsewhere in his search for midfield reinforcements this summer, with speculation suggesting that a move for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas is in the offing.
United are reportedly ready to bid up to £40m if the Spanish international is made available for transfer by the Catalan giants, while Real Madrid’s Luka Modric is also on the Old Trafford radar.
However, it would appear that Van Ginkel is a priority at this stage, and although there has been no official bid made, Moyes is said to be keen to land the starlet ahead of United’s Premier League rivals as he looks to strengthen ahead of his first season in charge of the club.
