Reports have been circulating in Spain that the Red Devils are going to reignite their interest in Bale as they look to build their own ‘Galaticos’ style squad at Old Trafford.
When quizzed about this during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Boxing Day Premier League fixture with Newcastle United, van Gaal was cagey in his response.
“I cannot discuss that with you. I discuss that with my CEO and not with anyone of the media,” the Dutchman said.
Whether or not Madrid would be willing to part with Bale just 18 months after paying a world record £85.3m fee themselves to land him from Tottenham Hotspur is another matter.
The 25-year-old has been in good form as well since arriving at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in 2013, scoring 33 goals in 66 appearances in all competitions including vital strikes in the Copa del Rey and Champions League finals last term.
