Manchester United have apparently approached Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti over the vacant position at Old Trafford…
The Red Devils have tried to lure the Italian boss back to England with an enormous €18m per year contract, reports Spanish daily El Confidencial.
Despite the offer, which would make him the highest paid manager in the history of football, Ancelotti has rejected United’s approach, claiming he is more than happy to continue in charge of Real Madrid.
United need a new permanent boss in time for next season, with player Ryan Giggs currently filling the void left by David Moyes’s sacking in April.
Ancelotti has done reasonably well during his first year in charge at the Bernabeu, winning the Copa Del Rey. Although if his team doesn’t win their Champions League final against Atletico Madrid, and finishes behind their rivals in La Liga, the campaign will undoubtedly be deemed as a failure.
However, the fact he’s won the Premier League and FA Cup double previously with Chelsea, and a Champions League title with AC Milan, makes him an outstanding option for United.
