Spurs have realised they cannot get their No.1 target and have instead opted for the Ajax boss.
Ajax head coach Frank de Boer has revealed he will talk to Tottenham Hotspur about being their next manager, which means Louis van Gaal to Manchester United is just days away.
The 43-year-old has confirmed that representatives from White Hart Lane contacted his director of football Marc Overmars and that he will talk to the Premier League club once the Eredivisie season finishes next week.
It means that Tottenham have given up on trying to appoint their No.1 target van Gaal and therefore suggests the current Netherlands boss is on the verge of agreeing a deal with the Red Devils.
This is a sentiment confirmed by respected football journalists Jan Aage Fjortoft and Tancredi Palmeri.

Van Gaal has been the bookmakers’ favourite to take the reigns at Old Trafford ever since David Moyes was sacked after just 10 months in charge on April 22.
The Dutchman has huge amounts of experience in the dugout having won league titles with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Ajax – as well as the Champions League with the latter.
