David Moyes’ season goes from bad to worse, as United lose 2-0 in the Champions league last 16…
Manchester United player ratings:
- 01 David de Gea – 5
Could do nothing about a horrendously unlucky deflected opener, and then conceded another from Joel Campbell who curled one in from long range. His defence didn’t do him any favours at all.
- 12 Chris Smalling – 3
Shocking. While he was never expected to storm up and down the right flank, the least Moyes would have asked was for Smalling to not fall over every five minutes. His passing was dreadful, and he looked increasingly like a man bereft of confidence, intimidated by his surroundings.
- 03 Patrice Evra – 5
Looked visibly frustrated that his teammates couldn’t keep the ball in midfield. Regularly offered himself up the left flank, but was rarely supplied the ball when he overlapped his hopeless wingers.
- 05 Rio Ferdinand – 4
Held on to possession far too many times, and was lucky that his sloppiness didn’t lead to another goal for the home side. (This is without even mentioning his complete lack of pace.)
- 15 Nemanja Vidic – 6
The best of a bad bunch. If it wasn’t for some important last ditch tackles from the Serbian (who’s leaving in the summer anyway), the score could have been even more embarrassing.
