Here’s how we rated the Red Devils’ performance:
David De Gea: 6
Neither goal was his fault, with woeful defending for the first and a huge deflection for the second. Other than that, had very little to do all afternoon.
Patrick McNair: 4 (Valencia 45′)
Very hesitant when going forward. Tried to contribute to Manchester United attacks but had next to no end product, was rightly substituted at half time.
Phil Jones: 5
Back from injury and back in the side, his absence showed and could not work an understanding with Rojo which ultimately hurt his side.
Marcos Rojo: 6
Kept man-mountain Bafetembi Gomis reasonably quiet, but needs to tighten his game up elsewhere or his performances will cost United.
Luke Shaw: 6 (Young 58′)
Got forward plenty but didn’t threaten as much as he’d have liked. His attacking threat meant he was at fault for Ki’s equaliser.
