The likes of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao moved to Old Trafford in the summer as Louis van Gaal made major changes to this struggling United squad, and more big names could be on their way.
The Red Devils boss is still on the lookout for players to improve his squad in several key areas, while more departures are also likely to help fund these moves, with suggestions that some established stars could leave in an effort to raise around £91m in funds.
There are three main targets for United for when the transfer window re-opens, and they are as follows:
3) Kevin Strootman (AS Roma)
In a move worth around £60m, United are determined to bring in Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman from Serie A side AS Roma, with the 24-year-old having impressed van Gaal during his time in charge of the Netherlands national team.
