The Catalan club are prepared to listen to offers for Thiago Alcantara.
Barcelona are prepared to listen to offers for midfielder Thiago Alcantara this summer with Manchester United keeping tabs on the player, according to Mundo Deportivo.
It’s believed that new manager David Moyes will want to strengthen United’s central midfield with the retirement of Paul Scholes and the constant absence of Darren Fletcher.
Although Michael Carrick has received plaudits this season for his performances for the Red Devils, the club are still going to turn their attention to the Barca man that they have tried to sign in the past.
Thiago has struggled to break into the first team on a regular basis this season as new boss Tito Vilanova has persisted with the tried and tested formula of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas.
The Spaniard is reportedly wanting to leave the Nou Camp in the summer in order to gain more first team opportunities and United would welcome the 22-year-old with open arms.
However, with the club being linked with Marouane Fellaini and Fabregas already since the arrival of Moyes the Scot may have to pick and choose on who he actually brings in.
Thiago is perhaps a more likely candidate than Fabregas, as his Bacra teammate has made no secrets about his passion for former club Arsenal and would possibly be tempted back by Arsene Wenger.
Thiago broke into the Catalan side’s first team in the 2008/09 season and since then has played 98 times in all competitions for the club.
