With Champions League qualification a priority for the Red Devils this season manager Louis van Gaal is looking to bolster his squad before the window slams shut at 11pm.
Van Gaal is no stranger to spending bid in the transfer market having sanctioned a British record £150m on new faces over the summer, with the likes of Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao arriving at Old Trafford.
Now the Dutchman wants to raid the Bundesliga for new additions, with former Chelsea attacking midfielder de Bruyne a £30m target after his impressive performances in the German top tier this term.
The Belgium international left Stamford Bridge for Wolfsburg in January 2014 and has since been in fine form, scoring twice in the shock 4-1 victory over van Gaal’s former side Bayern Munich on Friday.
Hummels meanwhile has been a long-term target for United as they seek a new centre-back having failed to truly replace Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic – who left the club last summer.
However, Dortmund are refusing to budge on the £37m valuation of their skipper.
