“My biggest ambition is to come out for a big European club, one I can win trophies with. As much trophies as possible,” De Bruyne said.
The news is likely to upset Wolfsburg fans, as it seems that the Belgian midfielder has suggested that he does not currently play for a big club. The side currently sit second in the Bundesliga, ten points clear of third place in the table, but unfortunately, ten points is also the deficit to Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich who sit in first place.
Manchester United are currently the favourites to sign De Bruyne in the summer, for a fee believed to be around £30m, and if the 23-year-old can replicate his form from this season, that price may prove be a bargain for Louis van Gaal.
The winger has scored eight times in the league, and has contributed twelve assists – the most in Germany.
