Moyes also has question marks over Anderson and Young.
Since arriving at Manchester United this summer, new manager David Moyes has struggled to find the Scot’s best XI and four stars could now be on their way out, according to The Sun.
The quartet that need to prove themselves are Anderson, Nani, Rafael and Ashley Young, with perhaps the only surprise of the bunch being the Brazilian right-back.
Both Anderson and Young have been viewed as under-performing and expensive flops for some time and it wouldn’t be a shock to see Moyes sell the duo.
Rafael and Nani are a different matter however, with the Brazilian becoming recognised as first choice on the right side of defence last year under former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
There are question marks over the 23-year-old’s defensive capabilities, but as an attacking full-back there were few better last term.
However, Moyes thinks that this lack of discipline does not tie into his ideology and both Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are preferential candidates.
Nani meanwhile gets something of a hard time at Old Trafford despite having fairly strong statistics of 74 assists in 222 matches for United in all competitions.
The 26-year-old joined the Premier League champions from Sporting Lisbon in 2007 as a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo – which was always going to leave the winger on the back foot.
Whilst Nani is never going to be recognised as one of the best players on the planet like Ronaldo, the Portugal international has been solid for the Red Devils.
Yet with youngsters such as Adnan Januzaj and Wilfried Zaha vying for first team places, Moyes may be looking to the future and wanting to oust the old guard.
For Young performances have been nowhere near as positive, with the Englishman playing just once for United since a dismal performance during the 4-1 hammering at the hands of rivals Manchester City in mid-September.
Anderson is viewed with similar cynicism and with the club going through a transitional period, Moyes may want to get rid of the deadwood and start bringing in his own talent.
