Manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that he is need of at least one reinforcement in central midfield. Despite normally playing as a striker, captain Wayne Rooney has had to fill in there in recent matches.
Apparently the Dutchman is keen on both Roma’s Strootman and Juventus’ Pogba for this reason. The 63-year-old managed the former while in charge of the Netherlands national team, and the latter is one of the most highly rated youngsters in world football at the moment.
All of this will not be good news for Ander Herrera, who only arrived at Old Trafford in the summer. Despite seeming to impress in his 17 appearances so far, it looks like van Gaal does not trust the 25-year-old.
