The Brazilian is in the final year of his current £60,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford and the Red Devils are desperate to offload the 26-year-old, but can find no potential suitors.
It would cost around £1.4m for United to remove Anderson from their books and it is something that they are considering in the New Year.
The South American has been considered something of a flop ever since his transfer from FC Porto back in the summer of 2007 in a move that eventually cost the 13-time Premier League champions a whopping £26m.
Since then Anderson has failed to truly establish himself at the Theatre of Dreams and this season has managed just two appearance for Louis van Gaal’s side, in the 4-0 Capital One Cup humiliation at the hands of MK Dons and the 0-0 draw with Burnley four days later.
Van Gaal has no desire to keep hold of the Brazil international – who was sent on-loan to Fiorentina last term – and perhaps cancelling his contract would be the best for all involved.
