Falcao may not stay at Old Trafford beyond his season-long loan from AS Monaco, meaning United will need to bring in improvements upfront for next season.
Ings has scored 9 goals for struggling Burnley this season, and is also believed to be a top target for Liverpool and Manchester City.
With the 22-year-old refusing to sign a new contract at Turf Moor, he should be available on the cheap as United would have to pay a small compensation fee.
