The highly-rated Swiss international, 22, is regarded as one of the best young defenders in the game at the moment, having shown some highly impressive form for his club last season and for his national side at this summer’s World Cup.
United already signed a left-back in the summer, bringing in Luke Shaw from Southampton, while midfielder Daley Blind can also operate in that role.
Still, Rodriguez’s fine form has alerted United boss Louis van Gaal as he looks to keep on spending in the next transfer window.
