The Juventus defender has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for a while now, and with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, the Frenchman was hoping to bring him to the Emirates on a cut price deal in January.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United are in need of defensive reinforcements, but a deal for the Swiss international looks unlikely to happen this winter.
The Italian champions seem determined to keep hold of the experienced right-back, despite the fact that they risk losing him for free next summer.
Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in Lichtsteiner, but he has been heavily tipped to end up at Old Trafford when he eventually leaves Serie A.
