Moyes will finally sign his big money centre-midfielder…
Manchester United will return with a second bid for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera, after their original £21m bid was rejected on Friday evening, reports the Daily Mail.
The 24-year-old is yet to win a cap for the Spanish national team, but new boss David Moyes is desperate to add some creativity and technical ability to his midfield before the transfer window slams shut on Monday evening.
Having already missed out on Thiago and Cesc Fabregas earlier in the summer, the former choosing to join Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich side instead – Moyes has targeted Herrera, as well as Everton’s Marouane Fellaini and Roma’s Daniele De Rossi.
However, Athletic Bilbao president Jose Urrutia has assured United that his star player will not be leaving unless the Premier League champions meet his buy-out-clause.
“For a player to leave he needs to state his intentions to leave and (the club) pay the buyout clause (must be met),” he confirmed.
Moyes though, is quietly confident of getting his business done this weekend, baring in mind he also has a massive clash at Anfield against Liverpool to prepare for on Sunday.
“I hope we do a little bit of business before the window closes,” he told fans.
United fans can expect at least two of the three central midfielders to sign before the window closes, with Herrera likely to arrive at Old Trafford first.
