The Red Devils remain keen on improving their options at the back for next season, with the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans not impressing on a consistent basis this term.
The Metro now claims United will look to Marquinhos as one of their top targets in a £40.1m move, with personal terms expected to be agreed quickly as the club will offer the youngster an improved wage packet to his current contract in France.
PSG brought Marquinhos to the club from AS Roma last season and he has continued to show himself to be one of the best young centre-backs in the world, despite being less of a regular this season after the signing of David Luiz from Chelsea last summer.
