On-loan Stuttgart striker Federico Macheda has stated that his Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney has no intention whatsoever of leaving the Premier League giants this summer to join the Paris Saint-Germain revolution in the French capital.
The reason for the mounting speculation of late has centred around the centre forward’s recent omission by his manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, from the club’s most important fixture of the season – the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash with Real Madrid at Old Trafford in February.
However, in actual fact the player has been enjoying an impressive season so far in front of goal for the Premier League champions elect, scoring 12 times in 22 top-flight appearances. When one also takes into account the three separate injuries that Rooney has suffered this season, Rooney’s record is not a bad return at all for an attacker.
As a result, it would be a huge surprise if the England international to be playing for anyone other than United when the new season kicks off in August.
