The Dutch hitman has been sidelined since picking up an injury in the Red Devils’ loss away at Swansea five games ago, but will be back to help Louis van Gaal’s side put a dent in their near neighbour’s outside push for the Premier League title.
In his absence, United have picked up four victories in four games, but will no doubt welcome him back with open arms knowing he has previous against the Citizens having scored a dramatic winner at the Etihad Stadium in 2012.
Van Persie has scored just 10 goals in 26 games this season and will eye a few goals before the season comes to a close after admitting himself that his form had not been good enough.
