Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck is surprised that his former boss David Moyes did not recognise the hard work he put in while training. Moyes said in December that he had asked Welbeck to train extra every day, and hinted that the youngster was not professional enough.
Responding to those claims, the 23-year old said, “I was pretty surprised at that to be honest. Before he made that statement I was doing extra training. Maybe he just didn’t see it.”
The Manchester United youth product insisted that he had been putting in the extra yards on the training ground pretty much all his career at Old Trafford and suggested that the criticism hurled at him from the recently sacked Moyes was unfair.
Welbeck has been linked with a move away from the Red Devils as he is believed to be unhappy at being played in a wide role at the club for the majority of last season, but the youngster’s future now rests in the hands of United’s new boss Louis Van Gaal, who is expected to take stock of the players at his disposal after his World Cup duties as Netherlands coach next month.
