David Moyes faces a tough task to keep hold of Adnan Januzaj.
New Manchester United manager David Moyes is aiming to make one of his first priorities at Old Trafford holding onto Belgian starlet Adnan Januzaj, who is a transfer target for Barcelona according to the Sun.
Most Premier League fans could be forgiven for having not heard of the 18-year-old, but Januzaj is making a name for himself at United and was voted reserve team player of the year this season.
Despite having not played a senior match for the Red Devils Moyes doesn’t want to let the teenager leave the club as it’s thought he has a bright future ahead of him.
Yet with La Liga champions Barca circling for the midfielder the Scot’s task could be harder than first anticipated, as the lure of the Nou Camp would be enticing for most young players.
United signed Januzaj from Belgian side Anderlecht in 2011 for a fee of £500,000 and have since been preparing the youngster for first team football.
This season the midfielder earned himself a promotion from the club’s under-18 squad to their under-21 squad and contributed with five assists and a goal.
Moyes will be particularly wary of losing his young talent with United suffering a similar fate with Paul Pogba last summer, after the Frenchman decided he was not valued enough at Old Trafford and moved to Juventus – where the 20-year-old was a key member of the Serie A winning squad.
Similarly Ravel Morrison and Zeki Fryers have also both left the club in the last 12 months so keeping hold of Januzaj could prove to be difficult.
