Red Devils have been tracking the playmaker for some time now.
Manchester United are keen to bring coveted FC Barcelona midfield player Thiago Alcantara to Old Trafford this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The young Spain international, who is currently representing the Under-21 side in the European Championship finals in Israel, has been with the Liga giants for his whole career to date, having made his debut for Barca in the 2008-09 season.
However, in the intervening five-year period the exciting 22-year-old has featured in only 101 matches in all competitions for the Spanish champions, finding the back of the net on 11 occasions, including seven strikes in just 68 league contests for the Catalans.
And as a result, new United head coach David Moyes is said to be keen to bring the skilful playmaker to Old Trafford when the summer transfer window finally reopens once again for business on July 1 as the Scot seeks a long-term replacement in the centre of the park for the now retired Paul Scholes.
