The Bosnian international is widely considered to be one of the best midfielders in Serie A right now, and perhaps one of the best in Europe as United rival Liverpool for his signature ahead of the summer transfer window.
Both clubs look in need of strengthening in that part of the pitch, with Liverpool eyeing midfielders in preparation of Steven Gerrard’s departure to LA Galaxy, while United consider him as an alternative to his Stadio Olimpico team-mate Kevin Strootman.
According to the Metro, United are now ahead of their rivals in the running to sign the 25-year-old, who has previously ruled out a possible move to Anfield.
Still, Old Trafford may well be Pjanic’s next destination as the Metro states that he is due to hold talks over his future next week as he may well be keen on a new challenge.
