Premier League champions Manchester United have suffered another blow after it emerged that their number one summer transfer target, Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos, would be staying at the Allianz Arena next season after all, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The Red Devils has been hoping to be able to lure the highly rated Germany international to Old Trafford at the end of this campaign after learning of the player’s apparent unhappiness wit life at the Bundesliga champions at present.
And that is because it was recently revealed that Kroos is currently one of the worst-paid players at the European champions and with a contract at the club that now has less than 18 months left to run on it, speculation has been rife of late claiming Kroos was set to quit Bayern when the summer transfer window reopened.
However, according to the player’s agent, Volker Struth, his client is going nowhere.
“There is no official contract offer,” Struth told German sports daily Bild. “Moreover, there is no need to make an official offer, because Toni Kroos will play at FC Bayern at least until 2015.”
