The Danish midfielder has revealed that Dortmund would greatly interest him.
After Ajax secured the Eredivisie title for the third year running on Sunday, their Danish star Christian Eriksen has confirmed he may depart the club for Borussia Dortmund.
Eriksen has been linked with several top European clubs – including Manchester United and Liverpool – but it seems the 21-year-old is eyeing up Dortmund as his destination.
The Denmark international scored in Ajax’s 5-0 thrashing of Willem II Tiburg at the weekend, but has hinted that could be his last game for the club.
“Borussia Dortmund? It would not be a bad option,” Eriksen told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.
“Dortmund would be [brilliant].
“I have not heard anything concrete from my agent, but I would be [interested if it became a] good option.”
The midfielder has scored 10 league goals and contributed 17 assists in 32 league matches this season, as well as netting against Manchester City in the Champions League group stages.
In total Eriksen has 13 goals in 45 appearances for Ajax in all competitions and has set up 23 chances for his team-mates.
The young Dane was signed for £880,000 to the Dutch champions’ youth team in 2009, but has flourished under manager Ronald De Boer at the Amsterdam club and is now one of the most revered midfielders in Europe.
Football website transfermarkt value Eriksen at £14million currently, although with interest coming from several top teams De Boer may be in the enviable position of being able to name his price.
Despite achieving so much at Ajax it seems that the midfielder is ready to leave his only professional club and Dortmund is clearly his desired destination.
