Young Spaniard could now stay in Catalonia next season.
Long-term Manchester United target Thiago Alcantara has given a strong hint that he may be about to remain at FC Barcelona after all instead of moving to the Premier League champions this summer, reports the Mail on Sunday.
The coveted Spain international has been the subject of much interest of late from the Red Devils, who have been keeping close tabs on the midfield player with a view to signing the 22-year-old when the summer transfer window reopens for business on July 1.
Alcantara has a contract with the Liga champions that runs until June 30 2015, however, that deal also contains a reported buy-out clause valued at £17 million and with the playmaker having found it hard to secure a regular starting berth recently in the Barca midfield, United were said to be confident of bringing the player to Old Trafford for next season.
Alcantara has featured in just 101 matches in all competitions for the Catalan giants since making his debut for the club in the 2008-09 season, including only 68 games in La Liga, however, a recent tweet from the Spaniard has suggested that he may now be ready to stay with Barcelona next season after all, with the Spain Under-21 international captain declaring: “I love Barcelona.”
