United could be struggling up-front as the Englishman struggles for fitness.
David Moyes is left sweating over the fitness of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney for the Premier League match with Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.
This comes as bad news for the English champions as Robin Van Persie is also unlikely to feature in the match at Old Trafford.
It means that Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez will be the only available forwards for Moyes in what is likely to be a tough clash with an improving Spurs side.
“Robin is not quite ready, we don’t think,” the manager was quoted by the Telegraph.
“He is not too far away. With Wayne we need to wait and see. He has not trained today so we will need to assess it tomorrow.”
United have also been in good form since slumping to successive home defeats to Everton and Newcastle United at the start of December, winning all their league ties since then.
This has lifted the team up to sixth and just a point behind rivals Liverpool, with Tottenham level on 34 with the Red Devils, but in seventh place due to goal difference.
