The 18-year-old forward has attracted rave reviews this season, and Louis van Gaal is said to be a big fan of the player dubbed ‘the new Luis Suarez’.
Although United have largely spent big on ‘Galactico’-style signings during the Dutchman’s reign so far, it seems the club are still keen to invest in youth as well.
Mendez looks an exciting prospect and could be a great capture for United if they do beat off competition for his signature this January.
