It looks as if Shaw is set for Old Trafford.
Southampton starlet Luke Shaw has been linked with several moves in the last year, but finally looks set to join Manchester United ahead of Chelsea, according to the Daily Star.
Real Madrid are also thought to be keeping tabs on developments, although it is the Red Devils that are currently leading the chase to land the 18-year-old for £25m.
This is despite the fact that Shaw is a self confessed Blues fan and that the west Londoners will be in the Champions League in 2014/15 and United won’t.
The reigning Premier League champions are in need of a new left-back this summer as Patrice Evra looks set to end an eight-and-a-half year stay at Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Shaw is being so hotly touted due to his impressive form for the Saints and the fact he is still so young, with the defender realistically having 15 to 20 more years in top flight football.
The youngster broke into the first team at St Mary’s in 2012 and has now established himself as a regular in the starting XI and has 66 appearances for the Hampshire side in all competitions to date.
Shaw is also likely to make Roy Hodgson’s 23-man England squad for the 2014 World Cup, ahead of the more established veteran Ashley Cole.
