The Glazer family have pledged significant funds into the kitty for manager Louis van Gaal as they aim to build their own ‘Galaticos’ style squad at Old Trafford in order to increase the value of the club.
Bale was a target for the Red Devils before he completed his world record £85.3m switch to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2013.
Players in La Liga have mandatory release clauses written into their contracts and the 25-year-old’s is reported to stand at an eye-watering £786m.
United of course wouldn’t pay anywhere near that much to tempt Bale back to England, but they are willing to break the bank to sign a player considered to be among the best in the world currently.

Bale helped Los Merengues win the Copa del Rey and Champions League last season – with goals in both finals – and is said to be learning Spanish in order to adapt better to life in the country.
