The Colombian international has not lived up to expectations so far in England, scoring only four goals and looking out of fitness and form in his time with the club so far.
With wages of £265k a week and a transfer fee that could rise to around £50m in total, it looks increasingly unlikely that United will take up their option to sign the 28-year-old permanently.
The Red Devils will speak with Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes this week as crucial talks take place to decide the player’s future.
