The Welshman joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2013 for a record £85.3m and helped the club to Copa del Rey and Champions League triumphs in his first season, scoring in the final of both competitions.
However, in recent times Bale has fallen behind Isco for a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI and the Italian is open to the idea of selling the 25-year-old as long as the price is right.
This has put the Red Devils on alert, with the Premier League side known admirers of the attacker having tried to sign him before he made the switch to Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur over 12 months ago.
Manager Louis van Gaal is keen to bring Bale to Old Trafford and has convinced the club’s hierarchy to offer wages of £300,000-a-week to the forward in order to tempt him back to England.
Since arriving at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Bale has played 56 times in all competitions, scoring 27 goals and providing 24 assists.
