Manchester United have made superb Juventus pair Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal top transfer targets, and have made contact with the Italian side’s officials regarding a possible mega money move, the Daily Mail reports.
David Moyes has made no secrets of his desire to improve the United squad, who currently lie five points off fourth place in the Premier League.
As a result, he has apparently met Juventus boardroom boss Beppe Marotta after the Serie A leader’s victory over Cagliari at the weekend, but left Turin knowing it will be extremely difficult to pry either of the midfielders from the Old Lady’s grasp.
Vidal is now rated as one of the world’s best central midfielders, while Pogba was recently voted Europe’s most promising young talent. While any January move for Vidal will be turned down, Marotta has declared that any offers for Pogba will be similarly rejected.
“From our point of view, we do not want to sell Pogba and, so far, we have closed the door to any possible buyer,” said the Juve chief.
Unfortunately for United, it seems that they will have to wait until the summer to reinforce their below par midfield options.
