Dortmund’s Gundogan has still not decided whether to leave or not.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is strongly linked with a £25m transfer to either Manchester United or Real Madrid but is still yet to decide whether to leave or not.
Gundogan has been absent for most of this season with a back injury, but is still an important target to both of these European giants and reveals that a decision on the German’s future will be made very soon.
“I will soon make a decision that will be well considered,” the 23-year-old told German publication Bild.
“It’s still really open.”
Gundogan was signed by Dortmund in the summer of 2011 from FC Nurnberg and won the Bundesliga title with the club in that first year.
Sine then the player’s reputation has continued to rise and the Germany international now has eight caps for the national team and is considered to be one of the best box-to-box midfielders on the planet.
The Red Devils are keen to sign Gundogan to add some top-class talent to their waning midfield, with the £27.5m arrival of Marouane Fellaini in the summer failing to provide that.
Yet Madrid are to challenge the English side all the way to the wire and have even proposed a swap deal involving striker Karim Benzema.
As for Gundogan, despite having already enjoyed great success at the Westfalenstadion and being nurtured by one of the most highly rated managers in world football in Jurgen Klopp, the player is still clearly tempted by a switch to either La Liga or the Premier League.
