Moyes finally seems to be closing a £7m deal for Ribeiro.
Cruzeiro midfielder Everton Ribeiro looks set to complete a £7m transfer to Manchester United after the Brazilian snubbed Real Madrid in favour of the Red Devils.
Both United and Madrid have been tracking the 24-year-old for some time, who caught the attention of Europe’s elite after guiding the winger’s club to the Brasileiro Serie A title.
However, Ribeiro has now spoken out about the South American’s desire to join the Premier League champions and manager David Moyes has begun negotiations to secure a deal.
“Yes, I would prefer that [to join Manchester United],” the former Brazil under-20 international was quoted by the Daily Star.
“The structure they have in place is one of the best in the world. I have been there already and went to a lecture by Alex Ferguson when I was younger.”
This is great news for Moyes in what has been a difficult first six months in charge of United after succeeding the hugely influential Ferguson in the summer.
The English champions currently sit in eighth place after 17 matches and are eight points adrift of league leaders and bitter rivals Liverpool.
Moyes also had trouble in the transfer market, failing to attract the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Ander Herrera and Cesc Fabregas and eventually having to settle for a £27.5m move for Marouane Fellaini on transfer deadline day – with the Belgian having been unimpressive since.
