David Moyes is targeting the prodigal young Brazilian winger in January…
fanatix understands that Manchester United boss David Moyes has earmarked PSG winger Lucas Moura as a key January transfer window target.
The 21-year-old Brazilian joined the French club in January this year, after a €45m deal had already been struck in August 2012. Manchester united were keen on Lucas then, and have kept tabs on the 21-year-old ever since.
Despite promising form in the latter half of last season, the winger has struggled to truly establish himself as a key member of PSG’s ever improving side. The Brazilian has only started eight Ligue 1 matches this term, and has only completed the full 90 minutes in three of his last ten games.
Lucas had previously been considered a shoe-in for Brazil’s World Cup squad next summer, but with Premier League stars Willian and Coutinho impressing El Selecao boss Luis Felipe Scolari with strong recent performances, the winger might need to move to guarantee his spot.
David Moyes rates the talented winger highly, who would inject some much needed pace and skill into United’s final third. While Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie are excellent central options, questions have been raised on whether Antonio Valencia, Nani and Danny Welbeck are of the calibre to compete for the Premier League title again – especially when you consider Chelsea and Manchester City’s world-class playmaker options.
With United ten points off top spot, fans are desperate for the club to strengthen in January, and Moyes has promised that funds are ready should the right player become available.
PSG showed in the summer when they sold Mamadou Sakho to Liverpool that they are willing to sell bright young talent to the Premier League should a suitable offer arrive, and if United go all out to sign the 21-year-old, don’t be surprised if you see Lucas Moura in the Premier League by the end of the winter window.
