The Premier League champions prepare a £20m offer for Southampton’s Shaw.
Southampton left-back Luke Shaw has attracted plenty of attention this season and Manchester United are preparing a £20m bid in the January transfer window, reports the Telegraph.
Chelsea have also been keeping a close eye on the 18-year-old, who is a self confessed Blue fan since being a child.
However, with Patrice Evra likely to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season and a deal for Leighton Baines failing to materialise as yet, United are ready to make a move for Shaw.
The Saints are likely to resist any attempt to sign one of their most prized assets though and will not want either United or the Blues to turn the teenager’s head.
Shaw signed a five-year-contract at St Mary’s upon turning 18 earlier in the year and the Hampshire club are keen to hold onto the talented defender.
Like the Red Devils, Jose Mourinho is also looking to the long-term future on the left side of defence as Ashley Cole is now 33-years-old and has struggled with injury and form of late.
This has led to Cesar Azpilicueta being utilised on the left and the west London club are also keen admirers of Shaw.
The England under-21 international broke into the first team last campaign and the starlet is now established in the starting XI having made 45 senior appearances to date.
It’s likely that Shaw will eventually be tempted away by a Champions League club, but the Saints will want to hold out – and get as much money – for long as long as possible.
