The Red Devils are keeping tabs on Barca’s Song.
Barcelona midfielder Alex Song has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester United as they look for alternatives for Juventus ace Arturo Vidal, according to the Daily Express.
Vidal remains their No.1 target and they are hopeful of signing the Chile international from Turin in a £40m deal with wages of £182,000-a-week.
However, with Juve unwilling to part with their star South American new manager Louis van Gaal is already looking for alternatives and has identified Song as a good option.
The former Arsenal man is currently struggling at the Nou Camp following a 2012 transfer from North London and could well welcome more game time away from Catalonia.
Barca are going through something of a transition phase currently under new head coach Luis Enrique and have already sold Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez this summer to Chelsea and the Gunners respectively.
They are also likely to be open to allowing Song to leave too, with Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Xavi and new signing Ivan Rakitic all ahead of the 26-year-old for a place in the starting XI.
Tottenham Hotspur are also understood to be interested in signing the Cameroon international.
