The Red Devils are looking into signing De Rossi on-loan.
AS Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has emerged as a loan target for Manchester United as the Premier League champions look to improve their midfield, according to the Daily Star.
The Red Devils have struggled in the transfer market so far this summer, having seen target Thiago Alcantara choose Bayern Munich over England, Cesc Fabregas deciding to stay with Barcelona and Everton driving a hard bargain for star Marouane Fellaini.
De Rossi has previously been chased by Manchester City and United have tried and failed to secure the Italy international on a permanent deal.
Yet now the English league holders are trying a different approach by bringing in the 30-year-old on a temporary basis.
De Rossi is a product of the Roma youth academy and has spent 13 years with the midfielder’s boyhood club – making the chance of convincing the Italian to leave even more difficult.
However, it’s thought by many that the player is open to an alternative to the Stadio Olimpico and United could prove to be just the option the midfield ace is looking for.
David Moyes has been looking for alternatives in the middle of the park since the retirement of Paul Scholes and the club have looked weak in the area so far this term.
There is no doubting De Rossi’s experience, with the Roma man having secured 90 caps for Italy and also having played in a World Cup final and the Champions League.
