Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)
Raheem Sterling only started one Premier League match this season prior to December, but took advantage of a Daniel Sturridge injury to win a place in the team – with his form so impressive that manager Brendan Rodgers even adapted his formation to include the teenager in his line-up.
Sterling offers pace, trickery and excellent movement, with the latter particularly important given his license to roam.
Six goals and three assists illustrate a rapidly improving end product, and man of the match performances against Arsenal and Everton show that he is a player for the big games.
Sterling is now favourite to start on the right wing for England at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in the absence of Theo Walcott through injury.
